Environmental sustainability

Environmentally friendly production practices

Organisations play a crucial role in combating climate change and promoting environmental protection by implementing environmentally friendly business practices and minimising their carbon footprint. Companies that adopt sustainable business models invest in the efficiency and sustainability of their operations, striving for responsible consumption of natural resources to reduce their present and future impact on the environment. Another essential strategy involves embracing circular solutions, i.e. virtuous models that prioritise the recovery, recycling and reuse of company products. These sustainable models help extend the life cycle of products as well as the materials used in their production.

Objectives achieved in 2024

Improving supplier environmental and social assessments
All suppliers (both structured and unstructured) received a questionnaire via email to evaluate their environmental and social practices.

Optimising the use of packaging
Between 90 and 95% of undamaged pallets are reused inside the company for our finished products. In addition, some pallets are either recycled or returned to suppliers.

Monitoring of emissions
In 2021, Brianza Plastica launched a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) project for Elycold, one of its fibreglass laminate products. This project involves analysing the environmental impacts of the raw materials used in the product's composition. In 2024, the company aims to expand the study to include Elyplan, another product from its range of flat fibreglass laminates.

Enhancing energy consumption efficiency
With photovoltaic systems at its Ferrandina and Rovigo production sites, Brianza Plastica managed to double its CO2 savings in 2023, preventing 127 tons of CO2 emissions—up from 64 tons in 2022. This represents a 49% reduction in emissions, with a total energy savings of 486,522 kWh.

Improving waste and scrap management
Brianza Plastica has implemented separate waste collection at all sites and is actively raising employee awareness of waste management. Beginning at the Carate Brianza site, plastic bottles in the canteen have gradually been eliminated by introducing reusable water bottles.
In addition, special bins for plastic cups and stirrers have been installed in coffee rooms as part of the RiVending project—a circular economy initiative aimed at recovering plastic cups and stirrers and transforming them from waste into reusable resources.
