Sunday, 4 October, the much-anticipated reopening of the Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari. On 27 October 1991, a terrible fire engulfed most of the Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari, a stage that has featured some of the biggest names in ballet, theatre and classical music such as Von Karajan, Pavarotti, Nureyev, De Filippo. In 2002, a major restoration project began aimed at combining tradition with new technologies, that today sees the official reopening of one of the world’s most important theatres. For the roof, completely destroyed by the fire, a discontinuous load-bearing structure was built consisting of purlins and trusses in laminated wood on which was placed the decking of overlapping spruce planks. The thermal insulation system was created using Brianza Plastica’s Isotec products and was a particularly delicate and complicated work due to the high slope of the pitches making up the roof, and that faithfully follow those existing before the fire. Isotec stands out for its excellent thermal insulation properties. It is also light, easy to handle and work, even at a height, and easy to install, offering maximum guarantee of walkability. It is equipped with battens that facilitate movement on the roof, because it functions as a safe supporting base for operators, and is therefore also suitable for very steep pitches and extreme working conditions. Isotec is an integrated system consisting of an inner core in high-density rigid polyurethane foam covered by embossed aluminium foil. The panel is made load-bearing by means of a ribbed and perforated steel batten, which ensures its static resistance, acts as a support for the laying of the roof cover, favours the channelling of water from the roof into the eaves and optimises micro-ventilation in the roofing membrane, eliminating the risk of water vapour condensation in winter and overheating in summer.
