There is no evidence of polyurethane on the façade of the burned building in Valencia

The Rigid Polyurethane Industry Association (IPUR) wishes to express its condolences for what happened and show its support to all those affected.
In response to the initial information regarding the materials present on the façade of the building that caught fire yesterday, Thursday, in Valencia, IPUR confirms that:

• There is no evidence that polyurethane was part of the ventilated façade of the building. Neither as filler for the exterior cladding, nor as insulation material in the air chamber typical of this construction solution. The latest communications from experts present in the area and knowledgeable about the building confirm this.
• According to the property manager of the affected building who has consulted the Building Book, the insulating product occupying the air chamber of the building's ventilated façade was not polyurethane.
• Regarding the exterior cladding, there is also evidence that it is a composite panel consisting of two aluminium sheets and a filler material to provide rigidity. In this case as well, it is not polyurethane.
• The Rigid Polyurethane Industry Association is available to the authorities to provide expert evidence of the absence of polyurethane in the ventilated façade of this building.

It is worth noting that polyurethane insulation products provide value as thermal insulation in multiple applications, both in construction and industry.
