The under-tile thermalinsulating system by Brianza Plastica
WHAT IS ISOTEC
Isotec is an under-tile thermal insulation system for pitched roofs, developed for refurbishment interventions and new roofing. It involves laying modular structural panels, light and consisting of an insulating core in self-extinguishing rigid expanded polyurethane foam, coated in a waterproof coating of embossed aluminium, and rendered self-supporting thanks to its metal profile.
COMPOSITION AND USE OF ISOTEC PANEL
A monolithic structural panel, modular, self-supporting and insulating, made from rigid closed cell polyurethane foam at a density of 38 Kg/m3. The external coating of the panel consists of embossed aluminium laminates both at the intrados and extrados, corrugated and integrated by a tile-supporting joist in perforated steel, coated with an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy. The metal profile is equipped with a drop catching longitudinal web on the flat part of the overflow of the panels, which prevents the water from going back up. The joist is also equipped with holes, in the flat support zone for the tiles, designed to facilitate the use of accessories such as: anti-bird netting, metallic flap for the mechanic fastening of the tiles. The panel is molded with overlapping longitudinal battens on the long side, dovetail joint on the short side with a view to rendering the insulation continuous.
ADVANTAGES OF ISOTEC
Isotec boasts an internal core in closed cell rigid expanded polyurethane, a material which is amongst the best existing thermal insulators. This characteristic allows the Isotec System to contribute in a decisive way to the living comfort of the environments below, drastically limiting the thermal exchange with the external environment thanks to a building envelope. In the winter months it contributes to the energy containment reducing the thermal dispersion towards the outside, in the summer period it contributes to the thermal attenuation reducing the heat transmitted towards the inside by solar rays.
The steel joist integrated in the panel, present in the holes which favour natural microventilation in the under-tile area, from the gutter to the ventilated peak. This new movement of air allows for the natural thermoregulation of the roofing in the summer months, exporting the excess heat which is accumulated from solar rays. In the winter period the microventilation facilitates the exportation of the condensation that might form between the insulation and the roof covering, decisively contributing to the longevity over time of the covering itself.
The Isotec system installed in accordance with the “laying instructions” (for structures with a slope >30%) guarantees a second level of waterproofing to safeguard against accidental infiltrations owing to the breaking of the covering and the expulsion of water to the gutter via the joist holes.
